When you go for a tarot reading, you are looking forward to having cards such as The Sun, or The Star pulled for you. That is because they are positive cards, and if you have a positive card that is indicative of something in your future, then that is great news for you. You can relax and enjoy yourself because you have some good news. However, is that really the case? Is it really true that each time you see a positive tarot card pulled for you that it indicates something coming that is great for you?

The answer to that depends. For instance, in astrology, you know that Jupiter is the Santa Claus planet as it brings you good luck and other great things. However, there are downsides to Jupiter, including gluttony, laziness, and overindulgence of any nature. The same applies to each time you draw out a positive tarot card. In the same way that negative tarot cards can indicate silver linings, positive tarot cards don’t always represent what is in your best interest either. Let’s take a look at seven tarot cards that are positive in nature and examine the downsides to them.

The Sun

The Sun tarot

The Sun

The Sun is the ultimate good luck and good news tarot card. Everyone wants to see the Sun! Or do they? The Sun can represent oversharing and overexposure. The Sun is a positive card, so who is to say that the Sun doesn’t represent toxic positivity in dire situations? This card can also represent inappropriate laughter and jollying people along when they need discipline or support. The Sun can shove difficult feelings and emotions away when it comes to you not dealing with them and forcing yourself to ‘be positive.’ That is not overly helpful and can be downright harmful to your mental health.

If the Sun shows up all of a sudden in a tarot spread that represents difficult news and indicates that you will have a difficult time healing, it can mean several things. Sometimes you can tap into something positive in the midst of it. However, if you have the Sun next to a reversed court card, then that can very well indicate that they will throw toxic positivity at you. That will only worsen your situation and feelings in the end.

The Star

The Star

The Star is the card that represents hope and dreams, and after going through a difficult time, that is one card you do want to see. However, does this card always have the best meaning when it shows up? The Star can literally mean you are dreaming. You are dreaming without taking action, and you are living in a fantasy world. There is nothing wrong with holding onto hope if there is a reason to be hopeful for something.

However, you cannot place blind hope when it comes to gambling. For instance, if you see the Star with the Devil, that can mean trouble. You would have to look at the surrounding cards. The same goes for you, believing that you will end up with a job even though you are not the most qualified applicant for the job. The Star can easily take you away from reality and keep you in fantasy land.

Nine Of Cups

Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups

The Nine of Cups tarot card is the wish card, and who would not want to get that one? If you have been going after something you really want and this card shows up, that is good news. However, the Nine of Cups represents eating, drinking, and being merry. Those things you will easily take for granted, especially if you are in situations that often represent those things.

If your wishes always come true, then you will not know how to get on with life since you have to have a healthy mix of adversity and wishes coming true. The Nine of Cups is also associated with gluttony and selfishness as well. If you have this card mixed in with the Four of Cups, which is another celebratory card, as well as the Devil, then you are most definitely overindulging and not in the most pleasurable ways, especially if you end up with a nasty hangover the next morning from drinking too much, in addition to weight gain.

Ten Of Cups

Ten of Cups

The Ten of Cups is all about large families, and usually, it represents familial happiness. However, if you have a large family, but you have no money, it creates stress. How can you be happy even with a large family if you are not doing well financially and if your health is not there? There needs to be a balance of Pentacle cards except for Five of Pentacles that represents poverty. The card can also represent you selfishly living your own pleasures, or you only spend time with your family and do not make time for anyone else.

Four Of Wands

Four of Wands

Four of Wands

The Four of Wands is the celebration card representing stability and freedom, as it is also a social card. When things are going too well, you become lazy and take good things for granted. The card can also represent you sticking within your comfort zone and developing a fear of putting yourself out there. If you allow that to happen, then you are not honoring your creativity and well your independence.

The card is also a card representing socializing, and that is great to have celebrations with your friends. However, since the number four is all about stability and order, the card isn’t inviting when it comes to allowing new potential friends to come into your circle. I see the downside of the card as snubbing others and only sticking to your cliques.

Ace Of Cups

Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups

The Ace of Cups is a card of new beginnings and the development of new feelings for something or someone. Perhaps you are falling in love with someone or developing a new interest to start a new hobby. You have to remember that Ace cards represent energy without any direction. If this card shows up for you and you don’t have new feelings for anything, then that can be a good sign. However, if you are gushing in lovey-dovey feelings and this card comes up, it shows you are gushing in feelings without it evolving. For instance, you have a crush, and you keep thinking about the crush. However, there is no sign of you either making the next move to approach your crush or to let go of it. Therefore, it keeps you in fairytale land.

Ace Of Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles

The Ace of Pentacles represents the foundation of a new business or perhaps some money coming to you. The card does not represent a lot of money if you are expecting something financial coming your way. However, the downside to this card is that you may start building a business for the wrong reasons or think about money all of the time. The wrong reasons would be you forming a business for the sole purpose of competing with someone who you dislike. That will not last as I knew someone who did that a decade ago.

I would say that the Ace of Pentacles is not a good card to see come up if you do a reading on the reason you want to get married or have a serious relationship. You have money on the mind, and if this card shows up along with the Two of Cups, then it can be indicative that the reason behind a marriage or a relationship is because of money.

Sure, you want to have money for security, but you also don’t want to make money the main motivation to have a relationship.

There are plenty of other positive tarot cards such as Strength, Temperance, The World, Six of Wands, Six of Cups, Three of Wands, Two of Wands, and Six of Pentacles, to name a few. Empress, Justice, Chariot, Eight of Pentacles, Nine, and Ten of Pentacles are also positive cards. There are more. Can you find the downsides to these cards? The bottom line is that there are positive and negative attributes to every tarot card. Sure, some cards are more negative than positive and vice versa. However, there are upsides and downsides to every one of them.
