And when this card appears it is indicative of you worrying a lot about any situation and that you are allowing your negative thoughts to take over.
This card is indicative that you are allowing your fears and worries to get the best of you and you are obsessing on them. You cannot stop thinking about the worst possible case happening. And you are associating with your fears a lot and one negative thought you have easily led to another. These thoughts are overwhelming you and keeping you awake at night.
An example of the Nine of Swords is that you are having to take an exam in a subject that you are weak in. And you have studied for this exam but you are absolutely terrified that you will fail to the point that you cannot stop thinking about the fear of failing. The Nine of Swords in reverse can mean two different things. One meaning is that you are able to release your worries. The other is that you are dealing with the inner turmoil that you are keeping secretive. You have a brave and bold face and no one would know what is happening within, but the deep-seated fears are there.
Astrologically, this card is associated with Mars in Gemini.
