The Nine of Pentacles (Nine of Rocks in the Penguin tarot) is the card that represents abundance, being financially independent, being self-sufficient, and luxury. This card is one that depicts financial success from business and you have the funds to start doing the things you want to do such as buying a new home, a new car, or taking that vacation. And even though the Pentacles represents anything that is material, this card can also represent being in harmony with life in general in the spiritual sense.
If you are wealthy, then you don’t only have material wealth as you are spiritually wealthy as well, and that is what this card really represents. Since this suit is an earth suit, it can also mean finding spiritual wealth through spending time in nature. It can mean that you are feeling refreshed and you are in good spirits by taking a forest bath. You are vibrating quite high being in touch with nature as you are going on a luxurious picnic as well at the park. That is your definition of abundance as well.
When the Nine of Pentacles shows up in reverse, it means that you are having issues with your own self-worth and you need to reflect on it as well as your own value. It is the time to increase your sense of self-worth if you are charging too low for your products or services if you own a business, for instance. It can also represent being overworked to the point you are not enjoying what you have earned.
